Literary cabaret, Speaky Spokey, presents a trio of Black British memoirs mining the forbidding 1970s.
In Springfield Road, dynamic poet Salena Godden conjures a life in Hastings with her Jazz musician father and go-go dancer mother; Gabriel Gbadamosi breathes beautiful shimmering poetry into the slums of Vauxhall; Colin Grant (with actors) stages dramatic scenes of all night poker among Luton’s mighty Jamaicans in Bageye at the Wheel. The show is punctured by wry and poignant songs of ‘Broken Heart Surgery’ from musicians Pete Fij & Terry Bickers. More
